42ND COORDINATING COMMITTEE (CC) MNCG

On 25 September 2025, the 42nd Coordinating Committee (CC) of the Multinational CIMIC Group (MNCG) convened in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, at the Headquarters of the 4th Infantry Division “Gemina.”
The meeting was chaired by Brigadier General Cornel-Traian SCURT, Chairman of Coordinating Committee, while attended by the MNCG Commander, Colonel Piero FURLAN, the Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Chief Warrant Officer Antonio COLIA, and staff officers (MA and LEGAD).
The six Partner Nations (PNs) – Greece, Hungary, Italy (Defence General Staff J3), Portugal, Romania and Slovenia – were represented by their National Representatives (NRs). Observers from the Romanian Land Forces Command (FOTER) also participated. The opening session was honoured by Major General Bodgan CERNAT, Commander of the 4th Infantry Division, and Mrs. Maria FORNA, Prefect of Cluj County.
The Coordinating Committee is the annual governance forum where Partner Nations receive an update on MNCG training, education and operations, and provide guidance for future tasks. In his briefing, Col. FURLAN presented the Unit’s activities and projects, highlighting the integration of new technologies and the growing contribution of the academic community in supporting civil environment analysis.
These developments aim to deliver enhanced Situational Awareness to NATO Commanders and decision-makers. He also stressed the harmonisation efforts undertaken in preparation for the upcoming Adaptive Interaction 25 (ADIN25) multinational exercise in November.
The NRs provided direction to further strengthen ongoing initiatives. The meeting concluded with cultural visits to the Military Museum of the 4th Infantry Division and the Museum of Modern Art of Cluj-Napoca, reinforcing multinational cohesion.
